My clinical background includes 34 years of critical care experience, five concurrent years as a flight nurse and over 10 years as the performance improvement/outcomes management coordinator for all Heart and Vascular service line areas and currently over 11 years as the Adult Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist for the 5 Adult ICUs across St. Luke's Health System I am an Adult Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist for St. Luke’s Health System (SLHS). I obtained my MSN from Idaho State University in 2009 and am certified as a Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), board certified as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Idaho. I serve on the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) board and as Board liaison for the NACNS Legislative/Regulatory Committee and Finance Committee. I am also on the Idaho Health Continuum of Care Alliance (IHCCA) Board, Chair of the IHCCA Legislative and Policy Committee, the Idaho representative on the National POLST Plenary Council and member of the National POLST Technology Committee which works with industry, National and State POLST partners/leaders to create clarity and improve processes related to POLST use. I trained in clinical ethics at University of Washington, am a Clinical Ethics Consultant for SLHS and member of the Ethics Committee for 30 years. I Chair the SLHS Institutional Review Board which provides regulatory oversight and review for all health system research activities. I lecture nationally and have been published on topics related to ethics, palliative care, endo of live and critical care.
